Vehicle Diagnostics & Repair:

  1. Perform diagnostic tests to identify issues with heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and trailers.
  2. Conduct repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension systems, and electrical components.
  3. Use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and repair faults.

Scheduled Maintenance:

  1. Perform regular preventive maintenance on HGVs, including oil changes, filter replacements, brake checks, tire replacements, and other routine tasks.
  2. Ensure that all vehicles comply with service schedules and regulations to maintain optimal performance.

Inspection and Testing:

  1. Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to ensure compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.
  2. Test repaired vehicles to verify the effectiveness of repairs and maintenance work.
  3. Complete necessary paperwork and report on vehicle inspections, repairs, and parts used.

Repairs to Electrical and Electronic Systems:

  1. Diagnose and repair electrical systems in HGVs, including lighting, sensors, wiring, and onboard computers.
  2. Handle fault codes and manage communication with the vehicle's control system.

Parts Replacement:

  1. Order and replace vehicle parts, ensuring that correct and quality parts are used for repairs.
  2. Keep inventory of parts and tools used for repairs.

Health & Safety:

  1. Follow company safety protocols and regulations when working on HGVs.
  2. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to avoid accidents.
  3. Ensure proper use of safety equipment, including lifting gear and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Customer Service:

  1. Communicate directly with drivers and fleet managers to understand vehicle issues and prioritize repairs.
  2. Provide timely and accurate updates on the status of vehicle repairs.

Record-Keeping:

  1. Maintain detailed records of vehicle inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  2. Ensure all service history is logged accurately for future reference and compliance purposes.

Fault Finding:

  1. Troubleshoot and repair faults in HGVs, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  2. Work with diagnostic tools to identify the root cause of issues and provide the most cost-effective solution.

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience:

  1. 5 years of experience in repairing and maintaining HGVs or similar large vehicles.
  2. Experience in diagnosing and repairing issues on a variety of HGV makes and models.
